Abestos tape removal

Have a few pieces of abestos tape on my ducts that needs to be removed so I can replace my furnace. Would require an abatement certificate afterwards. Looking to spend less than $1000. I’ve heard it’s a sketchy industry with big price differences so I’m only interested in somebody who is reasonably priced. Or maybe even a furnace company who also does removal and can give me a deal on everything together? Thanks 🙂

You can tape over them with a special type of aluminum tape.

    • Shawna Jones unless they are trying to replace their furnace or ducting. I was told the furnace company wouldnt even touch my place until I had mine removed completely

I wouldn’t do that, it just ensures the asbestos still exposed to the inside air movement will eventually fray and find it’s way down the duct lines until someone stirs it up in the air and breathes it in, know that if you have asbestos wrap on your duct joints, you have a problem.

Rye Weskey, I agree but I lived in a place with exposed asbestos tape and I called public health. They sd tgat covering it with aluminum tape was acceptable!

  2. Depending on the level of asbestos and how big the area is to be removed will determine your cost. We had a very small area but the level was so high, they charged my insurance $11,000

  4. It isn’t a sketchy industry if you hire a professional company. The cost is going to be more than a 1000 if you want it done safely and properly due to materials. I am in Calgary or I would be able to help you myself

I’m looking for a specialist of some sort to do some shit I’m not qualified for but I don’t want to spend more than $20…..
Fuck off guy. Specialists are well paid for a reason.

Was he certified to remove Asbestos or did he come into your home and potentially contaminate it for you or your renters? Did he pass air quality testing?

Spray it down wrap it with tape a peel it off yourself. As long as you keep it wet so it doesn’t become airborne you’re all good. Within moderation obviously.

  8. Whatever you do, please do it SAFELY AND PROPERLY. My father died of mesothelioma in 2005 (asbestos related cancer). He had been exposed to asbestos in the 1950’s while in the RCAF. It can live in your body for year.

  9. My husband works for a remediation company. They can have a look (free of charge if you’re local) and give you a better idea about costs.
