Beware of Dog Broker

Dog community warning:

Richard Windall is a dog broker. He takes dogs off Mexico buy and sells and resells then here for $1000+ per puppy. Since he lives here as well as Mexico he has been able to transport these animals easily. He has been posting in all Edmonton buy and sell sites and trying to join dog pages as well.

Through his advertisements of posting on social media he has learned not to call them purebreds. He has learned what is required of the government, and unfortunately this is not illegal. He is claiming to bring in 100 dogs in the next year. That’s probably close to 70k in his pocket after all is said and done, all the while supporting irresponsible breeding habits of uneducated dog owners in Mexico and taking advantage of uneducated dog lovers here in Edmonton and Alberta.

He claims to be rescuing these dogs from a bad life, yet this dogs haven’t even lived a life yet. Each litter has parents and he has pictures of the parents because he is not saving them, he is buying them for about 2500 peso, which is about 180$ Canadian.

Please please do not buy a dog from this man. These dogs are just dollar signs to him.

  1. We have plenty of homeless or unwanted dogs/cats here!! Try the humane society or one of the many rescues here before paying $1K+ for an animal with unknown parentage or temperament.

    [1]
    • People often think the rescues “charge to much” but they don’t factor out the costs. Rescues adopt out for a lot less than they pay for feeding, housing, vetting, fixing ect.

      [1]
  2. Adopt don’t shop✌

    [1]
  3. Buy and sell sites should not allow the selling of pets period.

Shelters are filled with pets that are wanting a chance to put a smile on your families faces. Take a walk in a shelter and see how much you are missing.

  5. Here is a couple other of his adds

    [0]
  6. He even goes as far as says he saves dogs and makes money doing it.

    [0]
  7. And his blue nose lol doesn’t even know what he’s selling .

    [0]
  8. I have to say that maybe what he is doing is wrong , but these dogs are much better here than there. Dogs in South America are on the streets without food, water, shelter or love!

    [0]
  9. K but what happens to them if people don’t adopt them? I’d rather adopt then see them get dumped or abused.

    [0]
    • it’s not adoption it’s backyard breeding…. this is FAR from adoption these pups aren’t fixed, vetted or anything he’s a backyard breeder

      [0]
    • If he truly cared the profits he makes he could help set something up in Mexico . Rather than contribute to the dog problem . Spay neuter clinics . Help the owner spay their dogs after a litter. Just the littles things

  11. If you have been to Mexico you will see that there are tons and tons of dogs/puppies there that do need homes.
Have you ever thought about the cost of getting them over here ? They still need to be seen by a vet and pass to bring them here.

    • Leila Evoy Leila Evoy says:

He gets them from backyard breeders, bred for the sole reason to sell them out here. They’re not dogs saved off the streets.

They are adding to the dog population

    • Is it the problem that he is making money off it ?
It doesn’t matter if he gets them off the street or back yard breeders.
If people don’t like it guess what don’t buy them

      [0]
    • It’s only roughly 350
To bring them here. Few people I know have brought back. But like I said if he was doing if for the animals he would have set up a spay neuter, join with a local rescue . Help the animals . He’s helping no one buy buying them selling here. So what is he actually doing. Those people will have another litter and another . So how is that helping the animal problem. It’s really enabling it

    • Coleen Munts Coleen Munts says:

$31.50 a pup. That’s how he manages to bring back so many.

    • You guys do realize that everything is for a profit. Go to the store to buy milk someone makes money off you, same with everything else.

If you don’t like it don’t buy them simple as that.
He makes a profit good for him, he supporting him self.

      [0]
    • I honestly don’t care if he trades it or not. Not my problem. I don’t agree or disagree with what he does I just think it’s funny people are made cause he made a profit, everything is for a profit people we don’t live in a perfect world were everything is rainbows and sunshine.
Unless it effects you why do people care so much . If you have a problem with the conditions of the animals go buy them all, report him for animal abuse etc don’t sit on the computer and talk about how bad he is, so something or you are just as bad

      [0]
    • Coleen Munts Coleen Munts says:

It appears You’re just as bad as a person as he is then..
Don’t care about the dogs. What a joke.

      [0]
    • Meh, I am not a bad person because I believe that unless you are going to actually do something about it or it effects you that maybe people should keep their nose out of peoples business.
You clearly aren’t doing anything to stop him from importing dogs or the conditions

    • We’ve tried. The best thing that can be done at this point is educate the uneducated people in the dog community that will fall for his sob stores.

  13. So all our dogs in shelters here lose a home? Perhaps people should donate 1000$ towards buying a shelter dog here so we can help eradicate the huge issue with overpopulation. Buy a dog, you kill a dog. Pull your heads out of your asses and do what is good for dogs, not for you.

Hmmm they’re based in Puerto Vallarta Mexico and have foster homes in Calgary and Vancouver. .

      [0]
    • Hopefully maybe this will get to them? He tells people that he is rescuing them, but to me a rescue is a rescue, not supporting damn puppy mills so they can continue to pump out puppies to make a profit.

Do what you need to do, Do what you can do to help get this to stop!
First it’s drugs (via Mexico)! Now it’s puppies purposely born into this world so this “DICK” can profit!? This can’t be right … This can’t be allowed to be okay …

  16. This is funny! I’m pretty sure this guy messaged me on pof offering me a dog…I’m guessing the exchange rate would have been sex? Either that or he actually is a pretty decent guy cause my puppy was recently stolen and died in my arms hours after finding him almost a month later.

  17. Or go to pjs pets and pay 3000 for a purebred

    What’s wrong with a business turning a profit? This isn’t communism….

    [-1]
    • Turning a profit by selling animals is nothing to be proud of.

      [1]
    • Shaun Reveis You’re truly an idiot. Dogs aren’t eaten here are they? no. Dogs have feelings just like humans. Real dog breeders keep pure bred dogs from going extinct. Pet stores don’t sell dogs or cats not legally allowed to anymore.

      [1]
    • Keep defending back yard breeders

      [1]
    • Tanye Chotard Good for millwoods sad for the dogs. This is NOT a business he does NOT have a business license learn what a business is you uneducated swine.

      [1]
    • Shaun Reveis the difference between this jerk and an actual breeder is an actual breeder cares for it’s animals. Homes are careful screened, dogs are health tested, dogs
Are carefully selected and temperament tested, blood sweat and tears go into breeding. Often good breeders don’t even make a profit. Selling animals like a piece of crap is not the same thing. That’s like comparing a reputable car dealer with scum that buys a car in Calgary, brings it to Lethbridge and sells it for a profit. Not a business, just a scam.

      [1]
    • This isn’t a “business” animals are just like humans… so if someone was selling humans for cash you’d just say it’s “business”

      [0]
    • not a vegan thanks 🙂 but dogs are NOT toys

      [0]
    • Shaun Reveis so you eat dogs?

      [0]
    • If he cared he wouldn’t be trading the pups for an iPhone

      [0]
    • There’s a difference between backyard breeders/puppy mills and reputable breeders. If he was purchasing dogs for a lower price from reputable breeders and then selling them I would look the other way, but he is not. He is buying back yard bred dogs and selling them for the cost of a purebred, Heath tested, ckc registered dog here. Trust me! You can buy dogs with a guarantee for the exact same cost of his back yard bred mutts that he’s advertising.

      [0]
    • Shaun Reveis Shaun Reveis says:

Uh… what do you think dog breeders are… or pet stores… they turn profits selling animals.

What do you think the deli is? Turning a profit selling animals.

So unless you’re a vegan who breeds animals for free I think you’re being quite the hypocrite.

      [-1]
    • Shaun Reveis Shaun Reveis says:

Lol I’m the idiot? And you’re the vegan communist free dog breeder.

This is a business. Pet stores still sell other pets. Breeders also sell pets for a profit. You think peoples time is free and useless?

And what does eating dogs here have to do with anything. Why are you only offended because it’s a “dog”? Other animals don’t have feeling? Or are you just one raging hypocrite.

Animals in Canada are used for business. They are a commodity. They don’t have rights.

This is why the farmer never cut a cheque to the plow horse.

I mean, I wasn’t the idiot who said “animals are just like humans”.

We don’t pay them, we eat them, we buy and sell them, we keep them as companions and labour. But they are there for us. They are a business.

      [-1]
    • Actually Millwoods town center pet store currently has dogs in there for sale for $1600 and before you say they aren’t legally allowed to, the city inspections are right on the wall beside the cages so its known they are doing it.

I don’t see the issue. I’d spend more than $1000-2000 to rescue dogs from Mexico. Looks like he’s saving people money and the headache of quarentine.
