Boardwalk Properties Welcome Home if you like the Ghetto

I could write pages and pages about how horrible and non accountable this rental property is in Edmonton. They will pretty much allow anyone to live here. The two different buildings I have lived in in same areas, had numerous accounts of vandalism. Broken doors, broken into vehicles, broken into apartments and mail rooms. They will not fully clean up after previous tenants on move out and try to slam you with anything they find when it’s your move out date, so take pictures when you move in and add all little details in move in inspection paperwork.

They have been known to tow assigned vehicles from their assigned parking places and will not pay to have their mistakes remedied. I knew/know a couple people who live in my building plus myself who have cockroaches and there apartment gets sprayed over and over and the issues are never solved due to loose tenant standards. They will have outside maintenance with tractors and machines running everyday of the week rain or shine starting sharp at 7am, so if you are not a heavy sleeper or work nights you may become a possible insomniac.

There is at least one water shut off from 9am-5pm at least once a month. Some properties property managers are never around or invisible and come and go whenever they pretty much please and I could say much more. I don’t know about you but Boardwalk is not a place I am proud to call home and I am fed up with this dump.

  2. I’ve got photos of the used needles, blood on the walls, used condom wrappers and the prostitutes using the stairwell as a place to ply their trade. Bedbugs are so bad. I lost everything I owned 2 days after moving into one of their suites from those little nasties. Took months to clear up the issue. Now they want to sue me because I left after someone was beaten so bad in the stairway just for walking down the stairs at the wrong time. Gross. Blah. Never again.

  6. Boardwalk is a bunch of horseshit – got bedbugs about halfway through my lease, they tried to play the blame game to get out of spraying, and even then they stopped a couple weeks into the treatments. Never mind the fact I had a toddler aged child at the time I had to vacate every week for the treatment, on top of being advised by children services that it was no longer livable for both our sakes. Will never rent feom them again

  7. My husband and kids and I lived in a boardwalk townhouse for 2 years and had no issues. The place was clean and maintained. All issues we had were resolved and we got 100% of our damage deposit back when we moved out. Maybe it was the site you lived at?

When I lived there I went to pay my rent and no joke there had to be 20 people living in the managers apt. No idea what happened to my rent money.

  10. I would never live in a place ran by Boardwalk again. We lived in one in Calgary and it was the worse place I’ve ever lived. We had a pool. Basketball courts and a few other things in the building. We were there one year and never once got in the pool or hot tub. My son was 15 ans wouldn’t even have friends over to use the facilities because he was embarrassed at how disgusting this place was.

  13. See if they’ll let you out of your lease agreement due to their negligence. Make an appointment with the property manager or contact someone at their Head Office.

They took almost $800 from my bank account when I was suppose to received a rental decrease AND an incentive on top of it. I was told by 3 DIFFERENT staff members I’d receive the incentive and decreased for the following months direct withdrawal of the rent, and I was told this over a 5 day period while a new lease was being drawn up. I BLEW UP on them, their exceuse, “It was too late to change the direct withdrawal amount because of bank cut off dates”. Called head office 3x and was told each time this would be remedied and I’d recieve my money back that month…..I heard NOTHING from them. Went back to my office, and they just shrugged their shoulders. That money was meant for something else VERY important, and they screwed A LOT of people over royally when they STOLE that money from me.

  19. I lived with Boardwalk for years, 2 diff properties (one in edmonton and one in grande prairie) It wasn’t as bad as your making it sound, maybe it depends on the specific property?!

  20. I lived in a Boardwalk property on the west end for 4 years and never had any issues. Anytime I needed something repaired, they were quick and professional. I received 100% of my damage deposit back.
I did notice in the last year, ironically around the time management in the office changed, there were a lot of riff raff moving in, and vandalism escalated very quickly.

  21. A friend of mine lived in one of their properties, said all the same things. When she moved in there was a broken window, never came to fix it all winter, she had to put plastic and a quit over it to keep her apartment warm. Terrible reports from others I know that live in these places.
