You Can’t Remember When To Renew Your Auto Registration?? Cmon!!!

So the amount of fines for auto expired registrations are up since Alberta ended the mail notifications in 2016.Why is that?

Do you need a yearly notification reminder of your birthday? When Christmas is? When Canada Day is? Get it? So why do you need to be reminded of something every year that is so obviously relevant to operating your vehicle?

And it’s not like the Province of Alberta has cut you off completely, they still offer email and text notifications but yet many forget, please explain to me how that is?

There are so many bills in life that are due on certain dates such as rent, mortgages, power bill, water bill, etc and you pay those by the due dates but all of a sudden many people can’t remember when their annual auto registration expires???

Please consider this a friendly notice that Christmas is next month on the 25th.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW

Yup,I’m full of sarcasm but seriously…who can argue this ridiculous issue? If you guilty people can explain to all of us responsible drivers who renew their auto registration on time how you can’t remember when your registration expires on the same date every year I personally would be appreciative on the insight into your excuses.

You moved? You got divorced? You won a million dollars and left town for awhile? etc, etc…doesn’t matter the excuse as it’s YOUR responsibility to know when to renew your auto registration so PLEASE stop blaming the rest of the world for your own friggin stupidty!

Disclaimer: Any person who argues with what I just explained is an assho…sorry I meant to say ‘butt entry’ because I know that this world has now become full of over sensitive snowflakes.

Can’t wait to read the excuses and unnecessary insults for this very simple issue…

  5. I always remember mine. Since I got my license, and since I got married. It’s alphabetical and the same every year. I don’t get it, I guess. You could send yourself an alarm on your phone or make a note on a calendar..I’m with you. I don’t get why it’s so hard. But then again, I’m not senile yet. I might lose my marbles in old age.

I’m sorry but why do you care if someone does or does not renew their registration? How lucky for you that life has not gotten in the way. How wonderful you are to never have something slip your mind. We can ALL learn a thing or two from you. I thank you for your wisdom. One more thing you are right about … we are going to say you are an assho … oops … I mean ‘butt entry’ … at least I will. Have a nice day.

You sound like a cop who’s heard the “I forgot” excuse too often! Haha. In all seriousness, I agree.. It’s not that hard to remember. Just glance at the plate and it’ll tell you when.

Comparing registration renewal to holidays and birthdays….i think i got dumber reading this!

  28. I used to always renew mine around the month of my bday for whatever reason I had gone in early to do my registration (I was taking my son for his ID). So naturally the following year registration change and I forgot because I was used to the normal month. They started to email reminders well, mine went to my old email!
So there’s that possibility! But, why do you care so much and that was way too much to read.

    [0]
  29. I forgot. But then I remembered. 6 days late, got it done. No ticket. Either way it doesn’t affect you or anybody else.

    [0]
  30. In all fairness…the world DOES remind you about major holidays. Stores do promotions and decorate, people wish you happy holidays, ask you about your plans for Canada Day (bbq, fireworks, etc.) so that’s a shitty example.

Get what you mean, but it’s a shitty example.

To be faiiiiiiir (Must be said in a british accent a la Letterkenny), if it was set to expire on your birthday like in Ontario let’s say, most people would remember.

I feel sorry for this OP. If things this tiny that literally don’t affect them AT ALL make them this upset imagine how miserable their whole life must be. Who cares why someone else didn’t remember ??! Who cares what other people do in general ?! It literally doesn’t affect you! You need to re-evaluate your priorities lol.

    [0]
    • Exactly. This person is really looking hard for things to get this upset about.

Imagine having it so incredibly good that a strangers overdue vehicle reg is your biggest problem.

We should all be so lucky

  36. This is quite the rant over something so petty.

How about new drivers who haven’t developed the routine?? Out of province drivers who are used to it being coupled with their insurance? People who can’t afford to cause they’re unemployed?

I’m really getting tired of you high horse riders that act like your shit don’t stink.

Congrats on monumental achievement that is registering your vehicle. I pity you if that’s the highlight of your life…

And sorry, the only ASSHOLE is you.

    [0]
    • how about new tenants who know the housing payments are due ? how about immigrants who know how to pay their bills on time? How about people who are unemployed and dont have money for the gas as well? Are we talking about people acting like they don’t know that they have to pay on time?
C’mon it is a personal responsibility we are talking about.

  37. the Alberta government said mailing those reminders was no longer necessary……the numbers say it was still necessary. With the government so willing to jack the cost of shit up, why not charge the cost of the paper, envelope and stamp more on registration and mail the damned notices? Over 20,000 people says the government made a mistake. How many of those people had to pay $310 then this is more like a cash grab and less like an effective cost saving measure, especially when raising the cost of registration by the amount for the paper envelope and stamp would effectively negate that cost.
Instead, the government is raking in at least double their claimed savings.

  42. Maybe you people that is putting down this poster, should watch Live PD and see how many people drive without a drivers license or unregistered vehicle.
Stop and think – what if you are in a collision with such a person or vehicle. Is your insurance company going to be of a help to you to cover any expenses to your vehicle for repairs or even to any injuries you may incur. Before you put this poster down, check with your insurance company and see what they cover.
This poster has a very valid rant.
