Car Tints

I did some research about car tints as I’m planning to get mine done. It states that in Alberta, only back passenger windows and rear window are allowed to be tinted.

But I’ve been seeing vehicles fully tinted. Can someone enlighten me on this subject?

Thank you so much. Merry Christmas!

As long as they can see you through the front they don’t really say anything

and as long as the police can see your face when they pull up beside you on the street .. if they cannot see your face they will pull you over and give you notice to remove the tinting .. and take back to them for inspection … happened to my friends son ..

  4. You just risk getting a ticket for it. I’ve gotten 1 ticket for tiny in 6 years.

  5. Yup, your right with what you read. Tint the sides,& roll the dice if you get caught or not. Sometimes if you only to it light,( so they can still see inside your car) you might get off. But as stated, your rolling the dice on getting the fine. Some dicks even make you peel it, or get towed.

  6. Any film on the front widows is illegal. As long as it’s not real dark chances are they will leave you be.

I’ve been fined for front tints and they were barely noticeable second lightest tints. The officer wasn’t even 100% sure they were tinted. He had to keep checking for a few minutes.

I’ve gotten two tint tickets since I put the tint on 11 years ago. I think the ticket is around $70. If you want to take the financial risk it’s up to you. But there are some police who will ask you to peel it off right then and there.

  9. I believe if they come factory installed they are allowed. Other then that if you get stopped you get fined.

  10. Front tint is banned because the police can’t see your face but you can drive around with a burka on? Makes sense

They can fine you. If you remove the tinting within 30 days, the fine is cancelled. I think most ppl just pay the fine. That’s what I did.

  16. You can do it, but if they wanna ding you they can and will. The darker the tint the bigger target you become lol

  17. The reality is if you get it you may get stopped. Its not worth the hassle in my opinion. I have even see them do checks when people are going into a parking lot. And they can ticket you no matter how light it is, part of the reason is they don’t want film on those windows in case they need to break it to get someone out.

  18. The reason that front windshields are not supposed to be tinted us so that (mainly) pedestrians can make eye contact, so apart from the dollars, consider the safety.

  19. Send it. 20 percent will most likely match your factory tint on the rear. Plus it’s a nice reasonable darkness to go with.

I have my car completely black in the back windows can’t even see in. I kept the front normal

  21. I know someone who is literally allergic to the sun so they legally can have full dark tint on all windows in every vehicle they own. So medical reason do trump the law.

    • Only the back are legal the fronts are illegal but can be done at your own risk! From my experience it’s on depends on the officer I had limo tint all around for 3 years no ticket even being in the middle of two cops then have the lightest tint on a different car and get pulled over numerous times. That being said it’s illegal but you can do it at your own risk

  28. The amount of tint tickets you get is in direct conjunction to how much of a prick you are.
I run light tint and have been given one ticket in 25 years.

  29. It’s a safety issue for law enforcement- so I’ve been told. I always tint my back 3 windows super dark, and tint the front 2 light enough that an officer can see in. Every car for the last 20 years. I’ve paid a few $58 fines, but it hasn’t been a major issue.

  30. What is there to enlighten you on? The law is very clear as you’ve read. The others you see with full tint are not complying with the law. You see people breaking the law everyday, police have other priorities then actively looking for tinted windows. Just makes it easier for them to stop you if they ever wanted to for whatever reason.
If you ever get pulled over with full tint you will more than likely get a ticket..

  31. If you do the front or go past the legal tint shade for your back windows the place your going to will tell you they are not responsible for your tickets. Think about that.
