Not in the case of adultery, as long as he’s willing to admit it or she has definitive proof the divorce can be filed right away.

    • Actually No you do not need to be separated for one year before you file for divorce. The divorce can be filed but it won’t be finalized until the one year separation date has passed. In the case of adultery the person who commuted the adultery would have to file an affidavit of adultery admitting to the facts.

  4. I have heard there are 2 ways to go about divorce, you can try and divide things up with the ex and have the lawyer just do the paperwork and make it official, or (it sounds like the way your aiming for) you can have the lawyer fight like crazy and make it a huge painful legal battle which means the lawyer makes a TON more money and likely leaves both of you with very little.

  5. Sounds to me like there’s an obvious reason why he cheated.

  6. If you have proof of the infidelity then you can divorce on thw grounds of cheating and likely get spousal support as well if there is no proof you are better off to wait the year and file on grounds of separation..i used the thom law office and they were very good.

  7. Just divorce and let karma deal with the rest…that said, Margaret Andreassen in Camrose was an excellent divorce lawyer for my mom (and they were dealing with a vengeful, money incurring ex).

  8. Marie Gordon, also known as The Shark. Remember though, when you bring emotion into the proceedings it can get very expensive. Lawyers charge for every phone call, fax, email etc so it can rack up quickly. If you can be amicable this way is a lot cheaper.

  9. You’re an idiot, legal system isn’t there for you to get revenge, the exact reason it takes so long for everyone else is there’s so many people like you who lawyers love to rinse

  13. I sure hope you don’t have children cause that nastiness would screw them up far worse than their daddy messing around and being forced out of their lives.

  15. I really hope there are no kids involved here. If so I feel bad for them. You are allowing his actions to control you and how you behave…… you then are no better then he is. You really want to give him that satisfaction.

Hope you have deep pockets as divorces are costly and take years.

Instead of letting this anger and rage fester in your head while going for the ultra expensive “scorched earth” divorce package; you could be the better person, work with him by going down to the courthouse and filing for what’s called a Joint desk divorce.

    $260 to cut him loose.

Instead of helping the lawyers get rich by spending the thousands upon thousands of dollars for no other reason than to fuel your ego you can spend it on what matters the most: your children.
