Don’t leave your purse unattended

Just a friendly reminder to everyone who uses a purse. Do NOT leave it unattended in a shopping cart. It is way too easy for a thief to snatch it.

Too many times I have seen ladies leave their purse in the buggy while they aren’t even near it. I get you can be distracted with kids or whatever else is on your mind at the time but you need to keep your purse on you at all times.

It won’t take long for a criminal to swipe your purse while your back is turned for a few seconds.

  1. I gave up purses a while ago and I’ve never felt more free. And I’m not a clear target for theivery (aka douchebaggery). It’s refreshing not to have to remember something like that at all times.

  3. Not only do I leave my purse unattended, I leave it in my unlocked car, with keys in the ignition. I also like to print my bank PIN numbers on the back of the card – no one checks the back of the card.

Knock on wood, so far no problems.

I use cross-body purses at all times. Not only do I not have to worry about leaving the purse anywhere as it is always on me, but it also frees my hands for shopping.

  5. When I put my purse in the cart I use the seatbelt clips and wrap them around the handle several times, that way anyone stealing it is going to have to work for their rewards! Plus it takes some time to unwind and unbuckle so hopefully would be caught by myself or caught on camera, lol

  6. I saw at last half a dozen women do this at Superstore yesterday and I was only in there for ten minutes.

  7. Yep. I keep a close eye on my purse and often tie it to the cart too. Once in Walmart, I had a wrapped gift in the basket that was swiped when I wasn’t looking.

  8. Had my wallet swiped out of my purse in superstore while I was trying to decide which shampoo to get. Cost me over $400 to replace ID, cancel cards etc! Takes them less time to steal it than it takes to blink! Bam it’s gone!

  9. When I was shopping at Costco, i had a woman get pissed off at me when I told her that she shouldn’t leave her purse (and her iPad) unattended.

It happened to me, I was so careful, just turn around to check on an appliances and I was holding onto my cart and it still happened to me. Seasonal thieves are expert and trained, majority of them are females, can attack you whether you are careful or not.

What’s even worse is that he notices that. Like buddy why are you staring at other people’s carts? I rarely look at another cart in a store and if I do it’s because it’s in the middle of the fucking aisle and I have to move it lol. But still, I think this confession proves that we have to watch out for YOU

Happened to me a few years ago in Wal-Mart. Left my purse in a cart just a few seconds and suddenly purse was gone. Went to the customer service to report it and after I was called to confirm if the purse that was found in the washroom was mine. Nothing was missing. I guess the thief just went to look for cash, which I didn’t have any in my wallet that time.

  12. well I had an experience where I had my purse draped cross my shoulders thinking it was secure. Its not. A group of seasoned thieves know how to distract people so that they can gain access to your wallet. In my case I happened to have my money and important cards not in my wallet so all they manage to do is unzip my purse and open my wallet.

  13. Usually when i come across a woman who has her purse sitting in cart while she is off looking at items on a shelf I’ll suggest she not leave her purse in there

  14. Same goes for when you’re loading your groceries into your car. Don’t leave it in the cart. Put it in the car first.

  18. I was at Walmart a year or two ago to return something and got a gift card from the return and a lady was there trying to buy a few groceries but her purse was stolen…I felt bad for eavesdropping at customer service but I was able to give her my gift card to buy her few things at least. I had to go home to put my son to bed so never did find out if she got her purse back. I hope so!

  20. That’s why I use a wallet on a cross body strap. Keep it under my coat so it can’t be accessed

Those types of Parasites hang around at walmart’s and superstore’s because they can hide in the numbers. Plus more opportunity. Thieves are cowards and opportunists.

I work in a superstore, and I see this all the time. Might seem like an obvious thing to not do, but people in a hurry to get in and get out don’t think straight. It got really bad a couple years ago, with purses getting stolen from Wal-Mart, superstore, Costco, Safeway and sobeys (all in the clareview area) to the point that the police asked each store to make announcements to the effect.
