First Choice Haircutters in Emerald Hills. Horrible.

We were the last people on Thursday. The lady said she cashed out and could only take cash as the machine was off. As my son’s hair was already cut, she insisted on $20 cash. I asked for a receipt but was told I couldn’t get that either. Then when I asked if the $20 the exact price of the haircut. She pointed to the sign and said $18.95 (close to that), so $20 is good.

I only has $20 cash with me so I handed it over and said I don’t even have cash for a tip. She appeared really agitated so I checked my bag and found $3 in change and handed it over. We didn’t realize how horrible the cut was until my son tried to wash and style his hair. With absolutely no proof we were there, what am I supposed to do? For all I know, she pocketed the $23 in cash and never gave it to the business.

  1. I would go in and do what the other ladies have said. She should not be cashing out or turning off any machine until all customers have exited and the doors are locked. As long as it is still within the hours of operation on the door she needs to keep all machines on. Also to say she can’t give a reciept is false they have carbon copy books to be able to physically write a reciept they need to for legal booking reasons.

Nope. Business owners don’t allow employees to turn off their terminals until the business is closed. She probably did pocket the money because if she can’t give you a receipt, it wasn’t rang into the terminal and it would throw totals off if she just threw the cash in. I’d be speaking to a manager

If that was me I wouldn’t have given a tip just because she expected you to pay more than it actually costed. But I agree she probably pocketed it.

  4. The best thing to do at this point is to reach out to the District Manager through the corporate office and lodge a complaint. It is very likely that the stylist has stolen the money and corporate will deal with that. However you may need to prove that you did in fact get that service done in that establishment by any means available…..

  6. I would call and ask to speak to the manager.. unless of course that girl was the manager – but it’s a lie she could not ring it in and give a receipt – she very well could have but it would have gone onto the next days total. Very likely she is scamming the business and doing this often and pocketing the money – alert the manager to keep watch for this in the future.

  8. Take your son back and ask to speak to the manager. With any luck this stylist will be there and you can point her out and ask for someone else to fix it.

Go in talk to a manager ,if she’s there go up ask if she remembers you and tell her what she did to your poor son ,if she doesn’t ask if they have working cameras cause they tell the truth your side ,then you say I want a refund cause businesses don’t work like that

  12. Go back speak to a manger . I wouldn’t call I would show up in person so you can’t be avoided . Put pressure on spot. I’m sure they have cameras to check .

You should definitely go back and complain, because obviously this girl does not know how to cut hair and by the sounds of it she’s stealing from her employer. She most likely did pocket the money and her employer has to know this is happening. It would be helpful if you have a description of the stylist and possible coworkers of hers that were there as well. As for the haircut, it might need a growing out period before it can be fixed unfortunately. I’m sorry you had such a terrible experience. I work at a salon and we are very reasonably priced, you can pm me if you’re looking for a new place to take your son.

  20. Go see the manager of course she pocketed the money

  21. She most likely did pocket the money but I would still contact the manager and explain what happened, it’s really important they know what their staff is doing when they aren’t there and the quality of work that’s going out their doors.

Why did she cash out ? How did she expect payment? It makes no sense. The debit machine doesn’t get turned off. I’d be upset too. And proof is there on camera. Maybe they’ll see her putting the cash In her purse? She got mad over a small tip, but was ok giving a free cut???

Take a pic of your sons hair if you don’t want to take him in with you and go talk to the manager. Explain that you were the last ones in there so got out in a hurry and didn’t notice. Chances are the manager will just apologize and ask for a chance to fix it. Probably won’t even ask for a receipt. Dont be to stressed out, it’s just a haircut and they want to keep their customers happy and coming back.

  25. Call the manager. Ask him/her to pull security video footage if possible.

2 words……video surveillance. There is evidence you were there. They just have to look at the cameras. Don’t wait to long as most business do a loop over with 3-5 business days

Yet another reason not to go to chain unisex hair salons. If your kid is old enough to care about how his hair looks, he should go to somewhere like Barber Ha on Whyte.

  29. In future try taking him somewhere better. I dont think Tommy Gunns in too expensive. Its where my husband goes amd we have never had a problem
