Just a reminder that peppers grow outdoors and in dirt. So do bugs. No big whoop. Clean it and move on 🙂

  3. I think its horrible that the OP called out a specific grocery store over a little bug! The grocery store didn’t put it there! QUESTION FOR THE OP…if said grocery store sprayed bug repellant all over your yellow pepper to kill one little bug would you complain? I think you likely would. Some people are never satisfied.

Went to the Italian store downtown, and bought sugared egg Biscuits. Came home and saw a flying bug inside. Went back the next day to show the manager. He bought us coffee and cake and took 50% off our groceries. They know how to treat their customers

Look at it this way, if the peppers were covered in pesticides, there would be no beetle.

Uhm, last time I checked veggies grew outdoors and their are bugs. Would you rather it be drenched in pesticides? No one wants to find a bug on their food but that is why we wash produce before eating it. I get some people are creeped out by bugs but common, this is hardly worth reading, let alone posting.

Wow it amazes me that people freak out when they see a bug on a food item that grows outside where bugs happen to live. Did they forget that one of the reasons why they are able to eat fruits or veggies is because a bug pollinated it.

If you think that’s bad you should see the insects that are inside some of the boxes. It’s inevitable. Anything imported especially food products will have insects from time to time.

  27. I’m pretty sure Sobey’s isn’t inserting insects into their produce. Maybe insects occur naturally in places where there is dirt and produce, like farms….

  42. It is actually quite common to find insects in your produce. That is the reason you wash them once you get home.
    Nothing to freak out over.
Our produce can get bugs in while it is being picked, Or packaged or even during transport.
If you are really concerned take the product back to sobeys to get a refund.

  43. That bug is not a concern. Don’t make a big deal out of nothing!!

  44. You know what.. one day I stepped outside.. and I saw an insect. Know what happened? Nothing… Unfortunately its probably too cold for this little cutie to be outside so I guess you’ll have to keep it as a house pet. Have fun.

  48. So, you probably don’t want to look into what’s allowed in food, such as how many bug parts per litre of ketchup and such. Yeah, be grateful the bugs in fruit and veggies are easily seen, the stuff allowed in prepared is not so much. I had to take a food safety course while getting my baker’s certificate. An awful lot of people would not touch anything made anywhere but in their own home if they knew some of this stuff. I don’t have any issue with, if it hasn’t killed me yet, then it’s probably an extra source of protein! Lol.
