Inexperienced drivers

I placed my order at 5pm the order said it was close at 526 pm. Then I get a call from the driver at 550 pm asking me to provide another address. Not sure what other address I’m supposed to give him. The whole point in ordering is to have it come to your door.
So anyway, the driver calls back at 7 pm saying he found my place!! I told him I already placed another order and won’t be using Skip the dishes again due to poor service and as far as tipping is concerned there is an automatic tip that gets added to the receipt so you drivers can’t complain about not making any money.
Anyway from now on I’ll be using Uber eats!!!

wasn’t ur order paid for before delivery? are u out that
Or make your own food.
Those guys get paid shit what do you expect
Then maybe they should do a different job ?
Lots of these people have other jobs as well as the contract driving.
A job is a job. Do your best and do it right.
It’s called Pride- no matter the pay. Your reasoning is just an excuse to not take responsibility and accountability.
Kelly Wolfram Theres no pride in below minimum wage work. What a bunch of bullshit. Exploiting the working class and telling them to be prideful of being exploited is insanity.
Ramin Mohammad
I did not say below minimum wage work. Nor exploiting.
I said the opposite.
When I worked retail, I always disliked people who walked in minutes before the store closed and expected everyone to work past their scheduled shifts unpaid to serve them hand and foot. Check your first world problems at the door and tell me how hard life really is.
what’s that gotta do with a order 2 hours late
Placing an order 26 minutes prior to closing during rush hour? When you order pizza at 6pm when does it show up? 45mins to 1 hour right?
It said it was close not closed
said was close at 526pm meaning was close to his place
And 20 minutes after the order the driver called to confirm the address. Maybe OP punched it in wrong and can’t/won’t admit it or the delivery address ended up outside of their zone but they tried to make it work. There are more factors than people tend to know. Just saying.
This is the worst at restaurants.
When people walk in 10 min before you close and stay for an hour. Thanks- the kitchen staff, the front of house staff, and the manager all wanted to stay late tonight.
Jerks.
I ordered from skip the dishes once from a place 15 minutes away. After an hour it said the food was delivered. They gave it to the wrong house. They mess up all the time.
yes they do as all places do no one is perfect
Totally! But the drivers pick their pick ups so likely he just didn’t know where he was going, got lost and decided to do other pick ups in between. I doubt OP keyed it wrong.
who wants 2 hr old food that’s cold n prob soggy lol
Desiree Somov that’s not true. I drive for Skip when I’m bored and we do not pick our orders. They are assigned at random to us.

Desiree Morin oh ffs lol
Oh. My brother used to a long time ago. He’d get assigned a zone but would only get orders from that area and would accept or decline them. That was a while ago though.
Desiree Somov they must have changed the system.
Could be. Regardless though, even if they’re assigned to you, the same mistakes could happen. No one is perfect!
Desiree Somov this is true.
Kelly Smith Lol- order was supposedly placed at 5:00..the very most late 1.5 hr. A pizza order can be up to one hour, with the best of conditions.
Jenny Pham I totally agree.
OP is not telling everything..
Your literacy skills are lacking as you clearly didn’t understand what the original post was talking about. . .
Skip themselves are fine. Drives are paid literally in tips, you get good drivers and you get shit drivers.
This is a driver issue and if you call skip they usually help you out.
They don’t get a delivery fee? I don’t believe that.
They do but that usually covers gas.
I drive for skip when I am bored. You keep delivery fee and whatever the customer tips. But majority of the time people don’t tip.
I usually do the tip, but I hate doing it predelivery
Dustin Edward Giroux not tipping on skip isn’t even an option. Lol
Sherry Malley, it’s very easy not to tip…lol the delivery fee is what you pay for convenience of being able to order from almost any restaraunt. That’s not a tip….
You do know it automatically applies the tip right? Lol I mean you can 0 it out but then the drive has 0 reason to bring you anything
Rory Williamson it has a preset percentage as a suggested tip on the app. That’s not automatically adding anything. You ok it. You add the tip.
And if the driver wants to continue to drive for them you will get your order weather you tip or not.
You wouls be surprised that unless that driver is paid a tip in cash… these companies keep a nice portion of delivery fee and top it up with the tips.
For example… your delivery fee is roughly 18$ tip included… how much of that do you think goes to the driver? Definitely not as much as you think… and definitely not the full amount you paid for fees either.
Also if the amount is worth not worth the drivers time of fuel… its not ao easy to just get your order…
Kym Normandin, I have ordered from skip regularly over then last year and a half or so. Not once did i not get my food. No matter the amount of tip.
As a driver I can tell you we get 100% of the tip you award at tome of order. That percentage amount you chose goes soley to the driver. This is the amount many people decide to zero out cause there’s already a delivery fee.
Of course a portion of the delivery fee goes to skip. But it’s not as much as you think. I know the delivery fees I have paid and have been paid out…..and not EVER have I paid 18 for delivery. The delivery fees are average from 3 to 6 dollars. So unless you tip 14 bucks or so you’re not pay 18 for delivery lol
There is an automatic tip? Since when??
always has been unless u click it off
I have never noticed. I always tip though. It would be inconsiderate not to.
Automatic means included to me.
if u go to checkout n payment options it’s in that area n it’s set at 3-5$
then there’s a tip amount for driver option u fill in
u double tip
u double tip
Really? I thought there was delivery fee and a tip. I am quite certain
delivery fee n tip go to them
Well ya but that isn’t a double tip. They don’t make a wage. The delivery fee is to cover their vehicle expenses and time.
yes but i mean it’s like double amounts
No. That’s unfair. They get paid peanuts. They deserve to be tipped. People who don’t tip people who deserve it honestly disgust me.
Kelly Smith, it is not double amount the delivery fee is based on the distance between the restaraunt and the delivery address. The tip that’s preset is a percentage of the order total. So sometimes it’s more. Sometimes the tip is like 2 bucks and alot of the time it’s zero. Not even remotely close to double the pay.
I was averaging 7 or 8 trips in a 3 to 4 hour shift and about 6 to 8 dollars a trip.
It’s definitely not this cash grab you seem to think it is.
Not to mention times where there are no deliveries and they are in their cars not getting paid at all.
Okay, so you say “inexperienced driver”, dude have you driven on the roads the last week? They’re kind of shitty. And if he was inexperienced, I’m personally just happy he was safe… I mean really, your food sure as fuck ain’t worth an accident.
Why did you feel the need to bitch about this? If this is the worst thing that happened to you today, be happy.
And, you wasted good food, you’re an ass.
Did you look at the weather out side
.
How the hell do you know it was due to an inexperienced driver, im a seasoned driver and I get lost looking for addresses all the time.
And as a skip driver I can say gps is not always reliable. Whichnis why someyimes you ask the neighbours address…..especially in newer areas
So…your one crappy instance. ..is enough to completely blacklist a company. .LMFAO…ohhh pudding is your favorite color shiny too?
I use to drive for skipthedishes and in many occassion people messed up their own addresses with silly mistake like Ave instead of street and then when i call the customer, well they are always right and wont admit wrong address even after i showed them in the app which we are suppose to follow.
Yes sometimes orders do get delayed from many reasons but if you call skip they will refund you or give yoh discount and hear your complaint and ask the driver what went wrong.
Making money? Trust me there isn’t so much making money in delivery driver. If you drive a full day then yes there is a bit of moneh which can be made by working most cashier jobs.
You’re seriously joking right? The road conditions are crap, experienced drivers are going off the roads, Deliveries are not going to be perfect tonight.
And yeah, a 3-5 dollar tip isnt all that much considering its contract driving and taxes are paid against said tips as well….
and the wear and tear on the car
I get what you’re saying, but this case wasn’t about the driver taking care in weather conditions. This driver was lost trying to find an address for over an hour. I would be mad too.
Did the op have their lights on? (Most people dont even bother turning on lights)
Did Op put the address in correctly?
How far was pick up to delivery?
Also if the driver was using google maps.. it could have been having one of its days (trust me has been giving me final destinations in the middle of back alleys houses away.
Theres definitely not the entire situation laid out in front of the readers
Or, if you know your place is difficult to find, provide some basic directions.
I used to drive for skip. The tips were not all that great. some of the addresses are indeed hard to find, and yes in this weather even harder. It is hard to earn extra money, when clients order their food for example way on gateway blvd. and expect their food to arrive in a good time when they in fact live deep north, lets say Castledowns. Yes, this has happened many times. Is that fair?
I once delivered one small frozen yogurt from hermitage area to sherwood park…….and they paid cash….11 bucks almost entirely in quarters. Lol
Did you give the driver an opportunity to explain? There could have been a reason. Not to mention the weather conditions, etc. Could it be gps was wrong? That happens frequently!
Your story has gaps- did you call Skip the Dish back promptly within a reasonable time frame? Or even when driver arrived?
I don’t think you gave them a “fair” chance. Too quick to complain on social media.
I’ve ordered from Skip dozens of times over the last few years, NEVER had an issue!!
Same here!
I won’t use Skip the Dishes. Found out they take 20% from the restaurant – in some cases that amounts to their whole profit margin – and then you are expected to tip the driver too. Don’t even get me started about tips…..
You’re right. Why should you compensate someone for delivering food because you’re too busy or lazy to do it yourself?
They save you gas and time. Do you really expect skip and the driver give you that service for free?? Lol
The delivery person is already getting paid…by the company he / she works for. I pay a delivery fee when I order in so it isn’t free. We talked with the owner of our favourite restaurant about using skip the dishes and found out it eats a large amount if not all of her profit. She doesn’t make a profit, the restaurant closes. So instead of being too busy or lazy as you put it, we order and pick it up ourselves. We support the restaurant and tip for great service, not because someone drove our food to us, a service which I will point out again…we pay for.
First world problems. I wish I had these problems.
Am I the only one that clicks the tip off? Fuck that, I’ll give the delivery dude cash in hand, at least I know they’re getting it.
You’re the type of guy that pees sitting down aren’t you?
In those two hours you could have cooked for yourself or gone out to a nice dinner and not have a pile of styrofoam to deal with.
