Input Wanted for Novice Painter

So I’ve decided that I want to start painting and have signed up for some classes. I have completed my very first painting (acrylic) and am looking for some honest opinions about it – good or bad.

As I am just starting out, I’m a little nervous to show family/friends. I welcome any comments and/or suggestions!

Very nice Job! All artists start as an amateur. Keep at it! Art is very gratifying and therapeutic. All I see that missing is darn seagulls flying around lol ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. It’s very nice. Just remember with art it doesn’t have to appeal to everyone but the right person will find it appealing. Keep up the work you can only ever improve with practice.

Very nice job. You might want to check out https://www.facebook.com/groups/ArtMonsterSquad/
It’s a very supportive group that will also help with any issues you might be having with a painting or ideas.

  9. This is a great job. Blending the shadows of the window frame would ‘improve’ it but that certainly isn’t necessary.

There are some fabulous YouTube tutorials. Painting with Jane, Clive 5 and Cinnamon Clooney may be up your alley.

Continue on and keep your creative spirit fed.

This is your first painting ever? I’d say your on your way ๐Ÿ™‚ most artists struggle with having their art judged by others, as an artist you put a part of you into each piece, be it a painting, drawing, sculpture, song, film, dance… I don’t think that part ever goes away. Be open to your final piece not looking exactly as you envisioned, remember, no one knows what it’s “supposed” to look like ๐Ÿ™‚ only you. I recommend playing around with different mediums and paint surfaces, mix them together and try out different techniques. There are many art classes in the city where you can learn about different types if you prefer person to person class, if not there are an abundance of tutorials online! Sky’s the limit! Good luck, and most of all have fun!

  16. I’m no professional but I think you’ve done a wonderful job. One of the most important things you can keep in mind is if you also enjoyed creating something. Good luck going forward. I’d say you definitely have a talent.
