Kanso Cochlear Implant
I have a question for the hard-of-hearing members of shout out!
I am a respite worker, for a very young child who uses rocking/rolling on the floor as a means of “self-stim”. This client has a standard hearing aid on one side, and a Kanso cochlear implant on the other. (See attached picture for reference)
These CI’s come with special clips (the same as used for clip-in hair extensions) and while they give incredible security and hold as far as keeping the Kanso where it needs to be and not getting lost, between the clips themselves and the clients constant rocking/rolling for self stim has resulted in a few bald spots.
The parents and I are trying to avoid any further hair damage, so we have been looking into other methods of security. We have tried different barrettes already, but nothing that gives quite the same hold.
I was wondering if anyone on shout out had dealt with this before, or may be creative enough to help us problem solve. I would be forever grateful.
The Kanso is primarily held on by a magnet that is surgically implanted in the skull. The clips are just a necessary added security measure to ensure it stays in place and doesn’t get lost.
Thanks a lot shout out, and stay awesome!
