Landlords attempt to ban Marijuana and smoking

Is your landlord attempting to ban tobacco and Marijuana? They can under the Residential Tenancy act however, they must be in line with the human rights act of Alberta. They cannot discriminate disability or religious use of said products. Simply write a letter of objection stating religious use or medical. They will ask for a letter for medical, however point out that it’s discrimination to ask under said act. They will ask what religion, but again it’s a violation to ask as we are free to worship anything we wish without discrimination. Some religions include rastafarian,Wiccan, Celtics, druidism , spiritualism ect ect. Some smudge with tobacco some use Marijuana for trance. Some landlords are attempting to ban incense. Again apply the human rights act of Alberta. They cannot retaliate under the act. The Residential Tenancy act also states that it must be in line with the human rights act of Alberta.

Nice post. You can’t afford to buy your own property so you look for legal loopholes to destroy your landlords property by faking medical and/or religious reasons. And yes, smoking in a house or car severely impacts their value to the majority of buyers.
