Negative Experience at Chic-Gog-O’s

I have never had worst service in my life. I try my best to be fair, but in this situation i can’t help but be mad. Three of us walk in to have dinner we order one beer and two pops, we order a appy and three meals, 15 mins later appy comes by. We waited a hour and a half AFTER our appy for our meals. There was 4 other tables (not getting there food any faster) it was not busy (considering it was a friday on jasper ave at dinner time).

By the time they got there only two meals arrived, and we got informed that they had forgot the third meal and it would be another hour before it would be ready. The meal being my spouse I shared my meal with them. We ordered two sandwiches and one burger.

What took a hour and a half to make I HAVE NO IDEA. it was a business dinner so we didn’t want to push and clearly they knew what was happening was wrong and they apologized, i expected the appy and the side order of patatos to be compt but they weren’t.

The bill came to $88.00 for a sandwich side patatos, a burger one appy two pops and a beer…. I really hope they reconsider hiring another chief, i know i won’t be back to see if they do.

  1. Thanks for that. I live close by and was curious about the place. I guess that I won’t be going there.

  3. try to go easy on the staff….the simple fact is that we have been in this position and that day it was hotter than blazes out, we didn’t want to cook so we went out to eat. They were short kitchen staff that day, can’t remember why, but the food was forever getting to us, the Manager came over and comped our meals and apologized profusely for the wait. My point is, they should have said something to you firstly, offered to comp the meal or discount or tell you they are sorry and they couldn’t serve you in a timely fashion rather than take advantage of the fact that you were willing to wait patiently.
I agree that the service sucked, but the servers are not the problem…..the manager and kitchen staff need to step up their game or step off the line!

Short staffed either you call someone in or the manger rolls up his sleeves and helps .. no way a sandwich and burger takes that long regardless … and if his cook cannot get meals out in a timely fashion .. then he should be putting his moves into high gear .. and out of slow mo….. not customers fault not enough staff …. when sandwich was forgotten that should have been high priority and made immediately and NOT TOLD ANOTHER HOUR wait time

    • Sharon Swan I think I implied that a manager should have been on it. My issue is that they send the one person least in control of how long of a wait you are subjected to to deal with the customers. Not fair! There are far better restaurants with far better service and treated this way I walk away and don’t look back.

Surprised they even charged you. A good restaurant would have given you the meal for free or gave you all free deserts and coffee.
    I wold not go back

I heard that they are an American company, only here for money, I gave them a chance, my grandson needed a high chair, they brought adirty one, wiped thetray with a greasy cloth and said “here” it was gross on the seat, the back. We just left because my son in law said “I’m not letting my kid eat there, wtf is the kitchen like”

  6. I live in Winnipeg and I have never heard the term “appy” for appetizers. I will stick to calling appetizers, appetizers. The service you got was terrible. I would have walked out the door.

“i expected the appy and the side order of patatos to be compt but they weren’t.” Good Lord, I hope your business doesn’t have anything to do with the English language. WTF did I just read?? It’s THEIR…not getting THEIR food any faster.

Holy hell I think I had a stroke reading this. This is why education is so important. I can’t take anyone seriously on social media who makes such simple errors that 3rd graders would know.

Also, I cringed so bloody hard at “a appy, there, patatos, chief”

    PATATOS

  15. I’m assuming short staffed or equipment failure. However they should have told the customers what was going on to cause the delay

Even 15 more minute’s due to “forgetting” an entire entree is unacceptable. It doesn’t seem like they blame the server either, they’re calling out the establishment.

Had some real shitty servers but kitchen staff is also at fault. I would not pay the bill or tip with service like this. We also work hard for our money so shitty service is unacceptable

  21. We had an issue similar and it turned out to be a waitress issue. How can someone forget to put in an order is beyond me especially when there are not many tables. Also sounds like a manager or higher up was not around to deal with the issue.

  23. I am surprised that so many have never heard “Appy” its kinda a joke within our family. Some of us refer to it as an Appy and others HATE the word 🙂
