New Attractions. No parking.

The city of Edmonton is opening all of these new attractions with no additional parking.

Take Terwillegar park for example. New footbridge. Or Rogers place? Same situation.

A trial was done earlier this year providing extra space at Terwillegar park. Why wasn’t it made permanent? Funny enough that extra parking would likely have fit every person illegally parking today ruining the land and making it impossible to leave.

The revenue from illegal parking at Rogers place.. $125,000. What will the news say about the park tomorrow?

I’m surprised bylaw isn’t here right now – all that revenue from illegally parked today would fund the gravel needed to expand this parking lot.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW

Doubtful that’ll happen – the parking lot that is, I’m sure the tickets will be here soon.

I made the mistake of going with my dog on Saturday and thought the exact same thing!

Typical Edmonton fashion, dumb actions with no reasoning or thought. Iverson the lawmaker thinks everyone takes the bus and rides bikes. The guy is an absolute tool.

    • You have legs, walk. You can take a bus, or pay a ticket…suck it up, it is called going green.

Ellen Hancock oh so you don’t own a vehicle and must walk everywhere? Otherwise you are the typical Internet hypocrite. Well sorry but I work for a living and don’t have time to walk 4 hours in minus 10 weather to go to the dog park when it takes less than 20 to drive. You gotta set your priorities in life straight, your children must hate you always having to walk everywhere in the winter. Must be nice having all that spare time to walk around. Oh and as for you telling me to go green, one of my vehicles emissions are cleaner than the air the engine takes in so my vehicle is a giant vacuum cleaner for the air that YOUR apparent non existent vehicle pollutes. What was that you said about being lazy and going green??

    • Going green? Lol

If I work at 4AM, they don’t have buses running, and I’m not forking out $40+ for a crab ride… both ways of $80 in a day, which is what I would make. That makes it impossible to gain money. Are you that much of an idiot Ellen?

    • You people clearly didn’t read the article, this isn’t about getting to work. I don’t care if you want to pay tickets, that’s on you… btw, your other vehicle probably makes up for it. …if you want to drive, great give’er, but don’t sit there whining because the city doesn’t cater to your ass.

    • Careful Valerie, Sean already insulted a lady about her weight on here, best if you don’t mention that you eat.

Ellen Hancock am I supposed to feel bad about that hahaha? Equality sweetheart, I’m not gonna be called lazy when it’s a 250 pounder telling me that I need to get up off my ass and walk more when I’m 165 at 13%.

    • You are lazy, you would think your ass is broken, have to have it hauled around in several vehicles, only one of which is earth friendly. People like you are just abusers, destroy the planet because your legs are broken…then you have the audacity to insult that lady, you have the moral fibre of a flattens piece of crap off the heel of someone’s show.

    • I’m bored with you now, tata

Ellen Hancock I’m sorry but I don’t understand what you tried to say, you must be fat fingering the keyboard out of rage or poor health?? Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life darling. My legs aren’t broken at all hahah, keep calling me lazy I love that shit, I have a paid for house, 2 paid vehicles, a paid Harley at 27 and I still had time to piss you off. That my lady is called efficiency. Hahahahah you mad??

    • I drive a car and have absolutely no desire to ride a bus, not because I am lazy but because I have anxiety issues…

    • Sean Foster are you a workaholic? lol

      [0]
    • Not sure why people are so judgmental of those of us who drive…if it weren’t for us buying cars many people would be without jobs… Automotive factories, car salesmen, mechanics, gas, oil, etc so while you are on your pedestal judging, we are doing our part for the economy! We don’t live in a perfect world but perhaps we also do our part for the planet by conserving water, recycling, composting, planting trees, etc.

  5. Don’t forget Edmonton is all about making money so they can spend it foolishly. It’s not about giving and if they put in parking, open your wallet wide.

  6. Enforcing use of their transit system so more money goes to the city…ugh

  7. I walk my dogs daily at the Terwillegar offleash park, and since the foot bridge has opened it has been a nightmare to find parking! Getting in and out of the park is terrible also because of everyone parked illegally – there was some talks of expanding the parking lot, so I hope that will happen before spring!

  8. No parking and no transit access either. Ever try and catch a bus to Hawrelak Park?
    There are none!

  9. Sounds like down town no parking their either

  11. Hard to believe that the council ‘forgot’ to consider parking for downtown (Rogers, the new museum and new apartment buildings). More ‘spendell’ legacy coming back to haunt us.
