Please share everywhere!! The law states that all animals must be taken to Animal Control.

This poor girl was told that that is where the dog would be. The dog was never taken there, proper steps were not followed.

Please help find this dog.

No. Do not share this post. The dog was taken by police and asked a local rescue to hold. When the police gave the ok to rehome the dog, they did.

    • Yup that’s the story they are trying to spin. Only problem is Police cannot give authority to rehome an animal, only an animal protection officer and a court order can do that. Please do your research before you comment

Trust me, rescues know the rules.

    • Apparently this rescue does not, as animal control has no record of this dog.

Show me where I can find that information?

    • Oh, and feel free to call EPS and ask them what they would do in this situation. They will tell you exactly what has been stated here: that they do not have authority to seize a dog and would notify animal control.

Again, please show me where I can find proof of what you’re saying. As someone who works in rescue I’m inclined to believe that the rescue in question did everything legitimately as required by law. I’m very familiar with the rules regarding who can and cannot seize and surrender. From what I understand, the rescue cleared it with the proper authorities. So please, show me proof of wrongdoing, and I’d be happy to do what I can to help, granted the previous owner is actually deemed fit to have the animal.

      … That’s what I thought.

    • If it had been “cleared” with proper authorities, they would have paperwork from ACCC which they could easily have produced. I have taken dogs from situations like this when I ran a rescue and there is paperwork with no personal information on it, which would have been easy enough to post. Both organizations have said they did not deal with this dog. Unfortunately it’s impossible to prove a phone call or verbal conversation otherwise.

    • Mel Maurice everyone would love to believe that a “reputable rescue” would follow proper protocol on an animal, but in this case it definetly was not followed! The proof cannot be provided to you or anyone else at this time due to the investigation, however if you followed this case from the very beginning, the proof is very clear and evident in the multiple stories that the “rescue” has put forward on social media. Also if you work in rescue then the protocol followed compared to the explanation given by the “rescue” is clear are 2 very different things.

The first red flag should be “a peace officer from the Royal Alex hospital dropped the dog off to (rescue) possibly stolen”
If working with rescues you should know that the dog should have been brought to ACC immediately..not a rescue”

You are more than inclined to believe at this point whatever you choose..I will just say..THE TRUTH is going to come out.

That turns out to be absolute bs.

I don’t know man I guess we’ll have to see. In the meantime I’m not going to put down a reputable rescue with absolutely no proof of any wrongdoing. Especially if the original owner was deemed unfit to have the animal. Keep in mind the well being of the dog is the number one priority here. I will be keeping an eye on it for sure, whatever happens. There’s just not enough information on either side to definitively say that anyone did anything wrong here. Thanks for your input people.

Mel Maurice as a director of a local rescue – I am sad to say that some rescues don’t know the rules or simply do not care to follow them.

This was a travesty of justice against a woman who needed & asked for help. No one can just take a dog & give it to a rescue. That’s why we have ACCC & rules in place. There is no excuse for a rescue not to follow the procedure. Gives everyone a bad name.

How does everybody have access to ACC records. I can’t even get them on the phone, let alone access their records.

    • Lisa Hoff, there are many of us who have been involved in the animal welfare community for years and have built relationships with ACCC and other organizations in the city.

As people mentioned above, ask the rescue to show proof of transfer from ACCC. If they can show that, then ACC was involved. Paperwork follows every animals that comes into and leaves that building.

  2. Shared !! I work next door to these two and have seen and heard all sorts of issues, We broke into the black p/u they have and called bylaws when we found a bunch of dogs in kennels with shit piled on top of them in a Black P/U with a black canopy the animals had been in there for 6 hours @ 28 degree… !!! When they showed up they were more up set that we were sticking our noses in there business than for the dogs until bylaw showed up then the care for animals came forefront. Bylaws had concern about this and the how filthy the plasic kennels were..Heard from the neighbor on the other side that they had called a couple of months before, left car running for hours depending on the ac to beat 30 degree… and turned out it was there kid in the car !!! So as far as all of us are concerned next door to these horrible people SHARE !!!!!
