Positive Review for Boardwalk!

I see that Boardwalk catches a lot of crap on here in terms of negative reviews. I have been living in a Boardwalk rental for a few years now and have not had even one problem. We have had to phone a few times for maintenance to come out and when they did they were courteous and friendly AND we had an electrical problem which caused our heat to go out in the middle of winter and we called at 10pm on a Sunday and maintenance was there within 15 minutes and fixed it up.

If you are a good tenant, pay your rent on time, are polite to staff and maintain your property they will extend the courtesies back to you.

  3. Lived in one for over six years.
Service is crap. Repairs are embarrassing. Rent goes up faithfully every year. Never plow snow. Bed bugs last year and didn’t even inform us. Only treated one apartment.
I managed buildings of over 400 units and the clean rent paying tenants never got rent increases, they don’t cost you money. Yet here you are surrounded by drug dealers and skids who come and go month by month. They have one priority, make money.
Depends on where you live, I hear good things about the odd building but would like to see it for myself.

  7. I needed to break my lease due to my dad’s passing. They said no problem. Lived for 4+ years, not a single problem.

  8. I lived in a boardwalk property for a few years. They were great, fixed things promptly. Had our furnace cleaned when we requested it. Then we moved out. I had a huge group of people help me clean. The place was spotless yet they refused to conduct the move out inspection with me present and managed to keep my entire damage deposit. They charged us an itemized list for everything that “wasn’t clean”. $25 for a light switch cover that I cleaned myself with a magic eraser. $12 for a lightbulb and the last thing that I did before turning in my keys was change that same lightbulb with one that cost me only $4. That’s all I can remember off the top of my head. In other words they lied. We started a complaint with the landlord tenants board and ended up getting a cheque for $188. Not a complete victory, but better than nothing I suppose.

I think they’re supposed to do the walk through with you, that’s terrible what happened to you guys!! They did the walk through with me when I lived in Riverbend. Sounds like your landlord was shady

I’m really glad to see this. I have lived in Boardwalk properties in the past and have good things to say about them as well. In my experience, they always took my concerns seriously and fixed things in a timely fashion.

  10. Um bullshit on the returned courtesies because ive been nothing but polite and theyve been horrible to me. So haha maybe not all of boardwalk is shit, but the landlord who runs my boardwalk building is a cheap careless person.

    • Yeah, I didn’t have a great experience with them and I seldom here of anyone renting boardwalk getting their damage deposit back regardless of the units condition.

  11. Ive been putting up with never ending repairs since I moved into my building. No weather stripping in the winter and when done they missed huge pieces and didnt even do the window, just the door. Fridge needed to be replaced as coolant ran out and I had to figure this out when all my food was going bad. Pipes under both kitchen and bathroom sink entirely exposed and I had to ask them to cover it because bugs were getting into my suite and they REFUSED to do it until my 6th or 7th bug in 3 weeks on my floor. Toilet was gurgling and rising to the rim when flushing and even gave me a plunger when I moved in and tried to say they give everyone a plunger. Um, no they don’t unless there’s a problem, why would I need a plunger? Surely enough toilet didn’t flush properly and was covered in grime I couldnt clean off so they finally replaced it after me asking over and over for months. And now rubber caulking on my bathroom sink lifting off, shouldve been replaced with silicone or latex to begin with, and when it lifted theres tons of buildup of grime and they are blaming ME for it saying I should “clean better” when in reality NOONE could clean between the sink and rubber caulk seal unless you entirely removed it!!! They are blaming me for a problem that shouldve been updated oh I dont know, 20 years ago as NOONE uses rubber seal caulking anymore for this EXACT reason? My building manager hasnt returned my calls and at this point I’m looking for a new apartment because trying to blame me for something that is common sense to replace is enough for me.

Sure, until you move and they try to charge you with damages (wear and tear) and cleaning costs… When you’ve worked day and night cleaning above and beyond expectations. Glad I bought a home, apartment living (boardwalk) sucks!

They’re not supposed to charge you for “wear and tear”, even if you’ve lived there for a long time. I remember reading that on the Landlord and Tennant website.

Oh yes, I know this! So I refused to pay, but they sent it to a collections company and I had to pay it… But refused to pay the ridiculous costs they charged.
