Pushy Woman At 50 Street Costco Pharmacy

To the short 40ish blonde woman at 50 Street Costco pharmacy at about 2:15 today (Sunday) with the approximately 12 year old daughter —your display of abuse towards the staff and your yelling and threats should have had you escorted by security out of the store.

We get it, it is annoying when you are asked to wait another ten minutes for your meds……….we get it, you needed those meds! Obviously! I waited ten minutes in line (like everyone else) and just as I was up to the cashier for pick up you came stomping back, went in front of the whole line to my cashier and insisted you be served first. Your daughter pleaded with you not to go in front of everyone and then she slunk away in total embarrassment as you made the cashier stop serving me and put your order through.

Shame on you for bullying the staff and kudos for their patience at your tirades. What a horrible example you set for your daughter!

Ugh those people are the worst. I absolutely loathe the people who do that. And they claim that you have to be assertive to get what you want!!!!
NO YOU DON’T. There is no reason to treat people like crap. You aren’t royalty, you aren’t better than anyone, and you certainly lower yourself to the bottom rung when you act that way. No respect ever for those people!

This is why I don’t fill prescriptions at Costco. Paying the extra few bucks to not wait for 2 days for your prescriptions is worth it

Arm yourself with at least an hour to waste and a whole lot of patience if you’re going to the Costco pharmacy. If you don’t have that, go elsewhere.

I had a Costco pharmacy employee say to me that their minimum wait time is 15 minutes. (Sorry, you’re mandated to make me wait 15 minute while you count 50 pills) .. It is frustrating … Now I’m not condoning childlike behavior in public. But how about these corporations that have mandated minimum wait times, strictly for you to spend more money in their store. That lack of customer service should be an embarrassment to costco.

I work in this pharmacy. Our wait time is usually an hour plus because even though were the smallest Costco we are the busiest pharmacy.

Hailey Ewing The specific pharmacy I referred to is Costco Yellowhead trail (which always not busy) . Is it true that you have a mandated minimum time, like the employee told me ? Does it really take you a hour to count 50 pills?

What a life you must live if a 15minute wait puts you out that much. And there’s a lot more to it than simply pulling a bottle off the shelf and counting pills. If that were the case, you certainly wouldn’t need a degree to do the job (or any education for that matter).
And it’s not a drive thru. They have a lot of other prescriptions and research to deal with. You know, from the other customers who didn’t wait until the last possible second to bring in their prescription… Stop chirping like an ignoramus and get in line.

Greg Ory Unless you have something to contribute, STFU. Why I have to wait for 15 minutes because it is mandated by the employer so I have to shop and spend money is complete bullshit. What would you say to having to wait 15 minutes to buy gas? I don’t know why you actually think I waited until the last possible second to go in, other than maybe you being a self serving, assuming asshat. Maybe not . Now who is “chirping like a ignoramus” with nothing to say? I’d say that seems to be you.

    • No one says you have to shop and spend money during that time. If you can or control your spending long enough to wait patiently for 15 minutes then you have larger issues. Just hang out and be patient. No one is forcing you to shop and spend money.

Teresa Louise No, but that is the design… (if what the pharmacist tells me is true.) 15 minutes designed by costco mandated wait. If Shell , or Esso put in place a mandatory minimum wait time that the employees are told to make you wait until you can fill your car up with gasoline would you be defending shell, saying I should be able to “control my spending” over that time? The point isn’t controlling myself for 15 minutes… it’s the fact that it is mandated to make you wait a minimum amount of time before they hand over your product. This isn’t hard to understand… that, if true, is bad customer service as a ploy to encourage other buying. And at it’s core… is deceptive and manipulating the customer. which equates to morally wrong.

Our lowest wait time is 30 min because we are so busy. It’s not that it takes long to count the pills it’s that there’s 10+ people ahead of you and we go in order by the times set from the person who took your order

Hailey Is there a mandate though. I have to admit the costco I go to never has a line up in the pharmacy and always appears dead.

  6. Everyone should know by now that Rx’s take time. You are in a COSTCO! Go shopping, browse, sample food 😉

If this was a refill, you take your pills everyday, if you needed them asap it is on you to notice when you are low and get a refill ahead of time before you run out.

    Society needs to slow down.

  8. My thoughts exactly. Two wrongs don’t make a right, but I would have definitely made her question her own actions. Sad part is, by the sounds of it she probably would have torn into anyone that stood up to her too. Her poor daughter, I can only imagine how embarrassing that would have been.

  13. Lol. I spent many many years in customer service. And people who are rude, aggressive and/disrespectful of my staff and other customers are put on time out.

Leave….cool off and come back or don’t come back at all….. It’s really interesting to see how many tough guys back down the second you ask them to leave……especially when they havr an audience. Lol

  15. Pharmacy are not just waiting for customers. They are busy with other people’s orders who, perhaps instead of complaining went and walked around for a few minutes. Smh

  19. I like to think the best of people.
Maybe she was in a hurry and short tempered bcs she’s had a kid in the stollery all week and hasn’t had time to make herself a priority. Finally got the kid home with a neighbour watching them and thought she could go grab groceries and a prescription in a certain amount of time. Was sleep deprived and emotional and just wanted to get back to the sick kid.
Or, maybe she’s just a horribly tempered person.

Reality is… you NEVER know what someone else is going through. A little compassion goes a long way.
Maybe she was having an absolute social anxiety induced panic attack due to being in crowded Costco.

You never know. Stop being so friggin judgemental.

    • In my experience people are like that because they’re assholes. Plain and simple.

And when did personal issues make it ok to abuse others?

I hate this type of attitude. No we don’t know her back story. Nor should we have to. As an adult you’re expected to conduct yourself in a respectful manner especially when kids are there. If you cannot keep your cool because you’re unstable then stay home.

It’s not fair to expect everyone else in the world to ignore or endure horrible public behavior because of personal issues. You can’t make your problem everyone else’s. That’s not how it works.

It’s not being judgmental it’s holding people to the standard we grew up with. Before any action can be excused away by using pity and guilt.

    • when my handicapped daughter is screaming and punching and pulling my hair right before i go in to grab her meds, and I called a day ahead and they still tell me to wait half an hour. well im we’ll probably not going to be very patient. Nobody would, it’s not even a choice your just overwhelmed with everything. People have emotions and sometimes they come out towards others when they shouldn’t. maybe it’s not an excuse but it’s reality.

    • Camilla Chameleon, there’s nothing wrong with being impatient or frustrated. That’s not what I said but even in the situation you have described, that does not excuse you to be rude and/or abusive to the clerk other customers and combative. The other customers are just there. They don’t deserve to be undermined. And if you called ahead, doesn’t mean the person in front of you is the person you spoke with. Not up to them to take the beating on behalf of others or the company. Plus you’ll get a far faster resolution handling situations calmly rather than fly off the handle.

This not about not having emotions it’s about controlling them. It’s not impossible or unreasonable to ask for that.
