Rant — Berta Babe Can’t Read Signs 😉

To the idiot with her pink “browning” hanger in her jeep parked behind my building in a handicapped stall: It definitely is close, but still doesn’t count.

Too good to find parking; I can’t wait until I’m that important. 😎

Please people. If you are capable of walking the extra steps, be thankful you can. My husband would love to park a block away and walk, but he’s in a wheelchair and needs spots like these.

    • I totally agree I am temporarily allowed to park in these stalls due to a recent amputation and am in a wheelchair-also temporary. There are too many people abusing these stalls leaving people like us – your husband included at a loss of access.

    • If you were disabled for even a day you’d understand the frustration.

    • Not the point Sarah. You can snap photos all day long. Does it move the vehicle? No. Calling bylaw moves the vehicle or fines them.

The second part of this is that the images taken aren’t even proof that the person is parked illegally.

Go ahead and publish my plate. I have my company name on mine. I don’t park like an asshole, so this page and everyone associated would have to deal with the consequences.

  8. If you were trying to prove someone was in a handicap spot wouldn’t it be easier to post an exact photo?

  9. Here’s my only concern- it looks like the spot itself is not painted in the standard yellow/blue colors so the driver might have missed the small sign that is a plain color like the wall its posted on- Especially since she backed in

    • if a sign is visible it is inferred that the space in front of said sign is an accessible spot. Bylaw can and would fine this person for parking based on the sign displayed clearly on the wall. Not every stall is clearly marked with the painted form on the ground due to the issue with debris – snow etc obscuring the payement-so wall signs are often used instead to clearly show that the stall immediately in front of the sign is in fact accessible only.

    • The spots being extra wide should also be a give away. There’s no excuse.

    • It looks like there are No painted lines in this lot at all… how were they supposed to tell it was extra wide? It also appears to be inside or at least covered so I’m not sure much debris would cover bright blue and yellow paint. I’m not saying it’s an excuse to take up a handicapped stall if you are able-bodied but Christ Almighty the driver just might have missed a white sign on a white wall especially white backing in.

  10. This seriously pisses me off. Both of my parents are/were disabled. I’ve called out several able people for parking in handicapped spaces (yes I always check for a placard first). I always get rude gestures and name calling in return. About the level of intelligence I would expect from someone who parks like that.

  11. Why not just call bylaw and have them deal with it-instead of getting no resolution by posting on social media.

  13. Could of been an honest mistake she backed in and that sign is pretty darn small or who knows maybe park there because her friend thats has disability or family member. Or maybe not but please don’t judge till u know the story.

    • the sign is VERY evident – there is NEVER an excuse for someone to knowingly PARK in a stall meant to be accessible.

      [0]
    • If your with someone who has a disability and require that stall they have a placard. If your going in to pick up someone and you don’t have the placard to leave the vehicle there, you go get them, leave them at the door. Go get your car and pick them up. Just like many other ppl do. The rate of ppl who park there because they think they are entitled or “just going in for a minute” the chances are pretty high it’s just ignorance. Even going in for a min your putting someone out who comes along and needs it. So they are expected to drive in circles waiting because you have no placard and “just going in for a minute”?

I think it’s fake, you can’t see the vehicle and the sign in the same photo. Someone just trying to start shit.

  16. The term “Berta babe” or “Berta boy” can’t be used on just anyone. Unless this person has the BB decal on their vehicle they are neither. That is a car club name that does charity fundraisers and have very strict rules.
