Ring Guy Here… With all the Stories & Great Advice, I Found what I was Looking For

So, after much reading, a ton of calls and driving around, I have found what I was looking for. And luckily, even though I found a great steal for a nearly new ring, I feel like the ring I found right up the Ally I was looking for.

Here is the ring. A little more flashy than she would first prefer, but the price was great and the timing was almost written in the stars as I was lead to the seller by a coincidental conversation about something completely unrelated. The Grey Cup of all things. Haha

So, this is done. But now, I am being hit with a huge reality stick. Even though I am a hair older than 40, I feel like a frightened 12 year old at a school dance. How do I pop the question?!?

I am not the kind of guy that who will pop the question on Xmas, New Years or Valentines. It has to just be right. I may have her open it on Christmas Day. Or I will be carrying this little box with me for a long time. The timing has to be perfect. And I am not gifted with enough romance to plan a vacation, a fancy restaurant or smart enough to get her family together as a surprise moment.

But I do know, I will have only one chance. I don’t want to waste it.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW

Once again, wish me luck Edmonton. It given me energy, drive and hope.

And to this who think I am being stupid, harsh on myself or think I shouldn’t be getting married at all (I’ve read all the responses) I hope you will feel my happiness one day.

  14. We got engaged at the legislature during the Christmas season, so all the lights were on. Just went for a walk and then in front of the eternal flame, he asked me to marry him. Very sweet, and it’s a place that we can always go back to and remember. Just an idea, but by the sounds of it, she’ll love anything that you do. Congratulations ahead of time.

  18. You said everything you need to know right there. Do it when the timing is right. Not every girl needs a huge event made of a proposal. Make it personal. You, her and your love for each other. That’s the advice I offer. Do what you feel is right. You got this!!!!

Take her to the Chateau lacombe and have dinner in the restaurant that spins!! You can enjoy the lights of the city. It won’t suck if the night is too cold out. She will get all dolled up and enjoy getting engaged in a pretty dress. The wait staff probably is old hat at engagements and can take pictures for you. Not too much planning other than making a reservation and convincing her you want a really dressed up date with her.

I would give anything to be as lucky as your future wife. I didn’t think men like you existed so at least there’s some hope there.

Does she have a favourite movie? Something romantic that makes her cry? Hold her hand during a heartfelt moment and ask her for her hand.

That ring is absolutely gorgeous and I am sure she will love it! More importantly, if she loves you she will know that you are coming from a place of love and honesty regardless of how you choose to pop the question. Good luck, wishing you two the best.

Look for the book 101 nights of romance. Any of the ideas in it would be good plus it gives you lots of dates to use in the future. Each one has a value to it so you can plan based on your cash available for the date.

My husband felt the same way. He held onto my ring for months. He had it in his pocket everyday and waited. We even went on vacation. He didn’t feel the timing was right at all. Then one day I was so so sick I wanted to go to dim sum because it usually always makes me feel better, we went I didn’t eat much because I was so sick. When we got home I was getting into bed and that’s when he asked me. You will know when the timing is right. There is nothing wrong with holding onto the ring to wait for just the right moment. It doesn’t have to be a big romantic setting for it to mean everything to her.
