Shoutout to the Kind Stranger at Safeway
I was shopping at the Safeway on Manning and 137th Avenue tonight (July 29th) and I had a full cart of stuff, the guy behind me only had a few items.
I let him in front just because it’s the nice thing to do. Its not a big deal, I do it often for people with less items and I honestly don’t think twice about it – I have four kids so I ALWAYS have a full cart.
After paying for his groceries he handed the cashier a twenty and told her to put it on my “bill”. I protested telling him it wasn’t necessary but he insisted.
Thank you, really. It meant a lot. I never expected that kindness but it seriously put a smile on my face for the rest of the night. $20 is a lot of money in terms of meal planning so I appreciate it a lot.
I live my life like my mom told me – be kind to strangers. Don’t expect anything in return, but you treat others as you would want to be treated.
Lately I’ve been astounded by the kindness of strangers in this city, it just shows me that I’m teaching my kids right, that there are good people out there and your kindness might not always be repayed but sometimes it might.
