Some say you Can’t Fix Stupid, but I say you can Try

Teenagers were driving the vehicle. They had no placard. They told me to mind my own business when I asked them if they knew they were parked across two handicap stalls. It would have been nice to have been able to use one of them. I didn’t take the photo until they refused to move. Then they got confrontational after I took the photo – What was I going to do with it? Post it online? Give it to the police? I better not…

To those teens – I hope you see this photo and realize how stupid and selfish you were today. I’m not going to report you to the police, I just want you to learn a lesson to be more cognizant and respectful of handicap parking spaces, and maybe to your elders as well. I wasn’t asking for the world, just for you to park properly, even if it was still going to be illegally, so I could use one of the handicap spots, too (yes, I have a placard).

  1. I saw a very healthy looking guy park in a HC stall once & confronted him on it. He looked around and said he ” Didn’t see any Handicappers around” then said he would think about moving if one of those people came driving up. As luck would have it a police car was actually going through the parking lot. I explained the situation & the officer actually called Bylaw Enforcement and had the guy ticketed. $250 fine.

  7. As someone who needs handicap parking this just is plain selfish and ignorant. These teens seem to have no idea how lucky they are to have the health to walk greater distances than most of those who need and utilize those stalls. I’m sharing this out in the hope that someone sees this that knows them ( ash…parents ) and Clues them In!!

I agree….. I’d report them as well. Nothing like a $250 fine to help drive home the message.

  12. I cannot believe the disrespect people show toward one another these days. These idiots need to be shamed over and over again until they learn that their behaviour is unnacceptable.

  13. I totally would’ve called the police or bylaw…you don’t know those selfish arseholes even see this page. A visit from the cops might’ve helped push the message through.

Should’ve got the license plate is the photo. If anything, the owner of the vehicle may see this and go ape shit on the little shits.

  20. A lot of people with placards don’t know that you aren’t supposed to park in a handicap spot if you don’t actually have the handicapped person with you in the vehicle. I see it all the time in long term care….they are actually visiting the person for whom the card is intended rather than picking them up or dropping them off. Those of us who are actually bringing in someone who uses a wheelchair end up parking half a block away.

  26. You are very lucky that could of ended badly for you. Never confront potentially danger people. You don’t know them or know how they are going to act. If you feel that strongly about it call the police. Your very lucky they didn’t become violent

  27. Public shaming- is that not bullying? Call bylaw if it offends you or interferes with life so much. Becoming judge and jury on the Internet is ridiculous. It seems to me there are way too many angry control freaks who are looking for another opportunity to get offended and cause more trouble than the things they are identifying cause. Solution simple call those who enforce the law.
Public shaming is a bully tactic and those who think it’s ok – it says a lot about you.
