Someone’s Beloved Ginger Kitty was Spotted Deceased Around 17 St. & 34 Ave.

Hey, I just saw a deceased ginger kitty around 17 Street and 34 Avenue. The face is really smashed so I can’t take it to the side. I did move the kitty to the curb.

The body was somewhat frozen, so I assume it was hit over an hour ago.

  2. I lost a beloved pet to edmonton traffic two summers ago. It’s extremely difficult. A head’s up is definitely appreciated but saying its face was really smashed in will likely be an extremely upsetting image for the owners. It would have been for me when it happened to my kitty. I suggest removing that sentence from the post, but otherwise thank you very much for moving the poor thing from the middle of the road 🙁

  3. I don’t understand why anyone lets their cats run free.1.i love my cat too much to risk his life. 2. Indoor cats are quite happy if you give them love 3.i don’t like cleaning my own cat’s feces so why should i have to clean other people pet crap out of my flower beds. Pisses me off actually-I dont know why it’s allowed. I moved a kitty off the side of the road this past fall, thinking he might still be alive. He wasn’t. It was absolutely awful.

awe. I could never let my cat stay indoors 🙁 I think each cat has their own personality, just like humans. She has so many cat friends in the neighbourhood that hang out in our backyard. They would all be so sad if we locked them indoors. Just like humans! Just because there is danger outdoors, doesn’t mean we should lock ourselves inside our homes. Instead, we enjoy our lives while we can 🙂

    • You can’t be serious ? Can u be ? Would u let your dog run free like u would your cats ?! Your the whole problem with this world and why cats go missing or end up dead. Please don’t own any animals and maybe get a brain

    • Some people don’t let their cats out on purpose. I have a cat who is so persistent to get out that every time we open the door he tries to escape. Last year we had our window open and he broke out threw the screen and was gone for 2 months. We finally found him but we didn’t let him out on purpose. He still tries to escape everyday.

    • “just like people”. Seriously?! And you’re a law student?! No, they are not the same. People understand the danger of cars. People dont run on pure instinct. People that get hit by cars have a chance of surviving. People can have dangers explained to them. Also, people, mostly, do not defecate on other people’s property, so you know, there’s that.
The similarlity that I will agree to is that both cats and people become conditioned to what they know and work with what they have. If you never let a cat outside, they are quite happy. I have had a few, all with different personalities, and that is a standard. I’m so tired of passing dead cats on the streets. Look after your animals or leave them for someone who will!

    • It scares me to think anyone with this mentality will have kids one day. But they’re people – they need to be outside. So i’ll just open the door and let my 2 year old run free, with no supervision. They can visit their friends. Yeesh
My cat also has a harness and tie down. So he still goes outside when it’s nice, but he isn’t able to leave my yard

    • Larissa, that is obviously not what I’m talking about

    • Im not someone who goes online to argue. I dont enjoy it. But when it comes to animals, they need intelligent people to speak up for them. Animals dieing absolutely needlessly get me riled!

    • Preach, Sarah!!

There are SO many reasons to not let cats roam free outdoors and ZERO reasons to let them.

My cat used to go outside until he fell 5 stories off the ledge of the balcony. He doesn’t go outside anymore….. But he likes to look outside.

    • That deserves an awe. Glad he’s okay Andrea!

As a responsible dog owner, I absolutely can’t stand it when a cat enters my yard, shits in my kids sandbox, aggravates my dog and hides under my husbands truck… There are so many things that can kill your cat- why not keep it safe inside or on a tether outside? Nah, instead everyone else can look out for your cat to make sure they don’t run it over or clean up after it poops in their sandbox, right?.

  6. It isn’t always an owner’s fault; sometimes pets get out by mistake. Extremely sorry to hear about the cat.
