Photos – Tragic News for The Italian Bakery on 118 Ave This Morning; Engulfed in Flames

๐Ÿ™ We have some tragic news this morning folks…

The Italian Bakery Edmonton located at 4118 118 Avenue was engulfed in extremely heavy flames early tonight / this (Sunday) morning. There were a large number of firetrucks on the scene, with over 30 firefighters fighting the strong blaze. The Italian Bakery was established in 1960.

There have been no reported injuries, and we are still unclear as to what started the fire, but unfortunately, things aren’t looking so good in the aftermath photos that have been provided to us.

To Antonio and Aurora Frattin – I am so sorry to hear about this tragedy tonight. I can only hope that you and your family will be alright.

A bit of back story about the Frattin family legacy:

On July 9, 1956 Antonio immigrated to Canada on the Roma ship that landed at Pier 21 in Halifax. Travel took two weeks. Aurora immigrated to Canada on November 9, 1956 on the Homeric ship.

As they grew up during war time, education for Antonio & Aurora was limited. As such, they learned from their own experiences and hard work.

Italian Bakery started as a family business and still remains family involved. They have full dedication of their children who possess the same commitment and enthusiasm as their parents in the continued success of the business. Antonio & Aurora have developed a partnership with their children.

  95. I used to work there long time ago. One of the owners was a goof. they were very unclean in the back. i remember working on the bread bagging machin, and a loaf of bread fell off to the floor and renato who was one of the owners told me to bag it still. also i remember after i left there a couple years later, they got fined for unsanitary conditions. just saying. still crappy though.
