Theft after security company solicitation
A few weeks ago, a young man showed up at my place to try and sell me a security system. He couldn’t get into my yard, as I latch my gate from the inside so that my pets can’t escape if someone were to enter the yard. I let him in and we sat on the patio discussing options for security cameras, etc. At the end of the visit, he asked me to fill up his water bottle for him, which left him alone in my yard for maybe a minute. Fast forward a few weeks and I awoke Monday morning to my gate having been opened (inside latch) from the outside, and my bike having been stolen. Perhaps it’s a coincidence, perhaps not. Has this happened to anyone else? I didn’t purchase a security system – was that their way of prompting me to buy one? Of course I have no proof, but I’ve lived here for several years and never had a problem until now. Just a heads up if you’re visited by a security company, or if anyone enters your home, to be extra vigilant.
