Tired of being judged

Tired of being judged for my teeth! i take care of my teeth but naturally i have just horrible teeth i have since i was a kid.

I’m prone to cavities and sensitivity. Since high school i had to have 2 adult teeth (in the front) removed. Yes i know i look bad and i’m tired of getting looks and people whispering about it. I know they’re not there anymore. I can’t get a job anywhere either because of it!

We aren’t all lucky to be able to afford $3000 (each!) implants to get false teeth there. (yes i have spoken to multiple dentists and the U of A ect. but they’re still expensive) Shit happens! they had to be removed as there were no roots left on the teeth for some reason and they were starting to rot. I just need to vent i’m tired of being called “meth mouth” or a “hick” and that i should “go back to my trailer park”….

Don’t people understand shit happens and we aren’t all lucky to have health benefits or tons of money for dental work????

  1. This might be too out there but it’s totally worked for a number of people I know. Ever thought about getting dental work done in Mexico? I had reservations about it but it worked out very well for the ones I know.

  2. People will judge… it’s in our nature it seems…. My best advice is to not let other’s judgment bother you… only you can decide how you react to other’s views and comments. Choose to rise above and ignore their ignorance.

  3. Only ignorant insecure people will judge others on their physical appearance. Just ignore them, there are worst things in life than having bad teeth. Sorry you have to deal with people like that.

  5. I know what you mean!! I have no teeth on the top! Due to reasons i will not get into. I got dentures but they don’t fit anymore. (My fault) but thats neither here nor there.
It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks or says. As long as your comfortable with yourself. But i have had a job in the past (warehouse). I guess it all depends on the type of job your looking into getting/wanting. But it shouldn’t matter if you have all your teeth or you don’t. You don’t need teeth to work or communicate. You need hands to do work.

See about a partial denture. Not to expensive. It’s amazing how it can boost your self confidence and make you feel better about yourself. I agree people should not judge but it must bother you as well.

  11. I can soooooooo relate. Good job but no benefits and as a single parent all my income goes to bills every month. There is no extra to get dental work done for me….unfortunately dental work is a luxury not a necessity in this Country, esp AB.

  16. Can u not get a dentist that will take monthly payments? Many will. Your self esteem would soar. Invest in yourself, because you’re worth it.

    • This is still incredibly judgemental. If you’re barely getting by as is, the last thing you need is another monthly expense. Even $50 a month could mean you can’t afford you bus pass any longer. It’s not for lack of want or trying that some people can’t afford to ‘invest in themselves ‘.

    • My remark was not judgemental in any way ffs. Stop creating controversy where none exists. It was a suggestion like the myriad of others. You, in fact, are judging me, that I haven’t been in a similar situation, that as a single parent I had to scrounge for dental care for my three kids and myself. I’m wondering, if the person who wrote this post is on social assistance. They should be providing some dental health care.

  24. At 12 years old my mother opted to have one of my adult teeth pulled because she couldn’t afford a root canal, so I get it. I never wanted a bridge as I didn’t want to damage my healthy teeth to fill the gap. I dream of the day I can afford an implant. To all the people telling you to finance or ‘just save up’, you can tell they really don’t know what it means to be truly broke.

I so feel u on this one. My teeth are also falling apart. Pplnthink I do drugs. They are broken in the front and I’m missing almost all my molars. When it gets me down, I think about all the other great things there are about me. It could be worse. Chin up!
