What’s the point?

Recently I had to sue someone, I hired a company for a service and i had to pay them but they never delivered. Long story short, after many failed attempts to get them to either give me my money back or complete the job(unsuccessfully got either) I ended up taking them to court for almost $4000.

After about a year in the courts I won my case(with no lawyer). Now I had all my paperwork needed, filed it, but still found myself in the same position, trying to get my money back. What is the point of court/suing someone if you have no help in getting your money back?

Is this whole system not just a waste of everyones time and money? I went to his bank but they couldn’t take out the money because a. It wasnt in there and b. He owed the bank money as well so they were shutting down the account. He basically stole from me by accepting that money, not delivering on the contract, and yet there is nothing you can do about it, even if you do take them to court. It’s a very difficult and draining process. Companies need to be held accountable, anyone can open a ltd or inc company, screw people over and then just shutdown the business.
